Project Team

  • Directors

    Greg Hise, historian at UNLV, and Bill Deverell, historian at USC, have been friends and collaborators for two decades. They have worked together on a number of scholarly projects, all of which have focused on trying to better understand the origin, culture, and significance of modern Los Angeles. This is the first of their joint projects to have at its center the visual record of the metropolis.

  • Project Designer

    Kris Mun teaches at the School of Architecture at USC. Her work spans diversely in design and art, architecture and theory. She focuses on design research rooted at the dynamism created by the intersection of mass culture and built environment, approaching design by analog and digital computational modes of production. Kris received a Master’s degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a PhD from the Architectural Association in London. She has received several awards for her work and has exhibited internationally. She was also the curator for several international architectural exhibitions and a curator/researcher for AA|FAB in London.

  • Project Manager

    Jessica Kim is a postdoctoral fellow at the USC-Huntington Institute on California and the West. She holds a PhD in history from USC and is currently working on a book manuscript that explores the relationship between Los Angeles and Mexico in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, particularly the role of Los Angeles venture capitalists in Mexico. In the fall of 2013, she begins an appointment as assistant professor of history at California State University, Northridge.

    Daniel F. Tamayo is the managing director of GlobalTradu Language Services which is an organization based in the Los Angeles area that specializes in translation, interpreting, and training services. Founded on the basis of the utmost commitment to quality in translation and interpreting, we strive to maintain and improve the linguistic and professional skills of Spanish/English Translation and Interpreting students and professionals.

  • Directores

    Greg Hise, historiador de la Universidad de Nevada, Las Vegas y Bill Deverell, historiador de la Universidad del Sur de California han sido amigos y colaboradores durante dos décadas.   • Diseñadora del proyecto
